Due to the erratic airline financial operations. Captain Stich found himself furloughed numerous times. During these times he flew for such airlines as Cal Central, Overseas National, Seaboard and Western, and smaller operations flying gamblers from the San Francisco bay area to Reno and other Nevada gambling locations.
